This project was a lot of fun, and challenging as well! The client needed it fairly quickly, and wanted a group of 19 people included with the retiree. The reference pictures all came from a company yearbook, so they were very clear. I came up with this balloon idea as a way to use simple black-and white line caricatures alongside a more rendered, colorful version of the man of the moment:

This was started at home, and finished on the road. The client simply picked up the printed 11 x 17 version at her local FedEx/Kinko's. The wonders of the internet never cease to thrill me!!
The next day, I got this email--
