Communion party caricatures

An inviting, Italian restaurant was the setting for this sweet little girl's First Communion party:
Caricaturist and sugar in the house!
The little Communion girl had a fantastic, fun group of family and friends:
This gig definitely achieved my closest parking-spot/easel proximity EVER!
Thank you for having me!!!!

Administrative Professionals Day…a good fit for caricatures :-)

A rare weekday-afternoon gig found me in an office environment:
drawing caricatures of people NOT working for the moment!
He was coerced by colleagues, but laughed at the outcome.
I told her she was a gums-show-er!
With twenty-eight faces to do in two hours, I had to hustle. (succeeded, though!)
The head honcho sat for me and the result was promptly pinned to the bulletin board.
ONE red-velvet cupcake remained by the end of the party, and THIS ARTIST got it! Sorry, no photo. ;-)

Very Pinteresting….

Just received this email from Pinterest:
Wow! I haven't really spent a huuuuuge amount of time on my Pinterest page, (I've had it a long time but have been adding to it more recently) and somehow one particular board of mine----my caricatures---has been racking up some followers lately. It will be interesting to see if this form of social media exposure works as marketing.

Spring Wedding Reception

..where I was outside on the terrace, under a tent, doing my thing. :-)
The beautiful bride and groom were too much in demand in the ballroom, so I didn't get to draw them :-(  Hopefully, I will get to do a studio caricature of them when they get their photos back.
I did dare to do a couple of caricature-reaction Vines:
and
Pretty cake!
This was the bride's feedback afterwards:
You did such an amazing job at my wedding. I am definitely going to recommend you to other people!! I just wanted to thank you. The day flew by for us but was a lot of fun.
Thanks for having me, Carolyn and Joe!!! :-)

Some smiling accountants...

I had a gig on April 15th. :-) In a tent, next to a skee-ball machine.
The U.S. postal service did NOT keep extended hours this year for people to mail their tax returns, so accountants everywhere did not have to keep extended hours, either! Party time!

This lady survived on pizza during tax season. That would be my comfort food as well.
Drink up! :-)

2nd Birthday party for a cute 'lil guy

It was a family-centered backyard birthday party for this little guy, on the first really nice spring day in these parts:
I arrived early and plunked my easel in a pleasant spot on their patio:
then proceeded to draw dozens of kids, teens and a few grown-ups!

My client found me on Gigmasters (he was the first to specifically tell me that my caricature-reaction video was a deciding factor in booking me) and I have to say thank you for the great feedback, and enjoying so much what I do! :-)
"Emily was awesome! I really enjoyed everyone's reactions! I could not have picked a better mode of entertainment or a better person. This morning people were already posting pictures on Facebook thanking us! I highly recommend Emily. Her video sealed the deal for us. My family and friends reacted just like those in the video---I had as much fun watching everyone's reactions!!!!"
Thank YOU!

Caricatures---and Hangman!?!

Every year, I spend several afternoons drawing at my local assisted-living residence. It's enjoyable to draw senior citizens because they are usually my least-caricatured demographic. It's also fun to hear them reminisce about the caricatures done of them when they were young, in various places.
This particular afternoon, I shared the stage with a lively game of Hangman!
They used a lot of art-related words for some reason--- the emcee had to use my business card to make sure she was spelling "caricatures" correctly! :-)
Look, I made the activities list! Thanks for having me, as always. :)

2nd Birthday party for a cute 'lil gal

At a recent 2nd birthday party, I was so into the zone that I forgot to take a photo of the adorable birthday girl's #caricature--- but I did photograph her siblings:
and a couple of the grown-ups:
Another happy Gigmasters client had this to say for my feedback:
"Emily was a big hit. Everyone loved her, she did fabulous work and had a great personality. We will recommend her to anyone we know who is looking for party entertainment."
(Thank you for having me and extending my time with you. So much fun to see how happy your guests were!)
This is the sight that greeted me as I left the party:
Update: My wonderful clients were nice enough to share a photo of the #birthdaygirl with me! (THANK YOU :-) I loved her big hazel eyes and her adorable outfit:
The birthday person ALWAYS gets a color caricature from me.

After-prom time again---with video!

You'd think after all the years I've been drawing at post-proms, I might be tired of the wee hours of the morning they involve, but no…there's something really fun about the big-kid slumber party aspect!  This was the first one for this year, and it was the blast it usually is. The kids are so eager to be drawn, that the parent committee moved me deep into the school so they would have to seek me out----thereby enjoying other fun activities along the way. It didn't change anything, I still had a line and was
non-stop busy for the whole four hours. :-)
Below, some of the sights on the way to the Home Ec room where I was set up:
 (the theme was Spring Break)
I shared the space with a very cool food-truck!
Now for some of my caricatures!
The two couples below were the ones I had the guts to put on Vine:
You can see their reactions below!

Yay for whoever thought up after-proms. They keep students safe, AND are wonderful memory-making parties!

Wedding Brunch

This spring has brought me more wedding gigs than in the past, and on Saturday, I found myself drawing at  a pretty, pink-hued wedding reception in an historic inn…
The bride and groom were both really sweet, and I enjoyed drawing them along with their little daughter (who had scampered away by the time I took the photo):
I drew all of the small children in attendance first, then my pen and I went after some of the grownups:
These two were REALLY enjoying the process:
A bridesmaid and her family:
 And some not-quite grownup brothers:
Thank you for having me, Aimee and Jason, and congratulations! :-)
