Artsy Bar Mitzvah Caricatures

My Saturday night was spent drawing at an amazing Bar Mitzvah celebration for a budding artist!

The venue was a stupendously-decorated high-end bowling alley/entertainment center.

IG Reel from this event :-)

Here's a sampling of the caricatures...I drew mostly kids, who had their names on a list as stickers that I could put on the plastic bags, so they could pick them up at the end of the night at my station.

There was even a rubber stamp, designed by Dex, that I stamped on everyone's paper.
These are line-drawing-only caricatures, to accommodate the large number of guests.

Dex's artwork was displayed everywhere at the venue...so when I drew his color caricature (from a photo as he was so in demand all night) I made sure to include his cute cartoon guy on his shirt!
Mazel Tov and thanks for having me!

The following morning I flew out early, to Florida for the 33rd annual caricature artist convention!

Beautiful Broadway-themed Bat Mitzvah (with caricatures!) on the lawn

What a view, before the festivities started! I was situated in one half of this smaller tent, along with a t-shirt airbrusher.
The main party was in this huge tent right next to my spot.

Because there were so many guests, I opted for my line-drawing mode of caricature...no shading and FAST!

And now for the guest of honor:

She liked it!
The night was noteworthy for me in a big way too...for the first time, I met my second-cousin-once-removed, Taylor Cotilla, who was the photographer for the evening AND who had recommended me to the client!
One of my sets of great-grandparents are her great-great-grandparents...

Thank you and goodnight!!

Bar Mitzvah Caricatures!

This young man is an aspiring guitarist!
Here he is with his buddies at his Bar Mitzvah celebration.
I'm so glad caricatures are so popular at mitzvahs, I wonder how that became so?

Bat Mitzvah caricatures

My drawing spot was in a sun-filled atrium at a nice restaurant...

 The overhead view!
Guests arrived, and before heading into the dining room...
they sat for me!

And finally, the young lady of the day! with her pups!

Caricatures at an Artist-themed Bat Mitzvah!

On a delightful, crisp, autumn day, I made my way to a young lady's Bat Mitzvah celebration...its theme was one close to my heart:
ART! So what better entertainment could there be than an artist drawing right in front of the guests?
The guest of honor even made a sign for me! (shown just above)
Here she is with me...and her caricature. :-) Two artists.
Due to a large giggling group of girls waiting for THEIR caricature, I didn't really have time to take photos..but I did get this one of my very last sitters---the grandparents!
Thanks to Bess and her parents for having me! :-)

Bar Mitzvah 2016

This Russian restaurant was the venue for a young man's low-key bar mitzvah celebration. I was ensconced in an alcove:

Here's the young man of the moment:
and some of his family and friends!

Mazel Tov, Michael!
