More wedding brunch caricatures!

Repeat Clients are AWESOME! The dad and stepmom of this bride had me draw ten years ago at a 40th birthday party, in their backyard. This time it was for a wedding brunch--in the same gorgeous backyard!

Wedding brunches appear to be a "thing" now, as this is my second one this year, after nonesuch for my entire caricature career. What a great way to unwind after the big day with a fun, chill get-together---eating breakfast food, enjoying a live band and getting a caricature!!

Thanks for having me back AND extending my time there! :-D

Caricatures at Diner en Blanc Wilmington 2021

For my second time around, I drew caricatures at the most fabulous, fashionable and heart-warming party: Diner en Blanc Wilmington. The theme was Roaring Twenties, because that's what happened in the decade after the last big pandemic. This year, it was held in Rodney Square, next to the historic Hotel Dupont, the Free Library of Wilmington and the county courthouse. Of course, this massive event had to be cancelled in 2020, so this year everyone was even more thrilled, if that can be said, to be there. Including me. :-)

I had a fascinator this year! And I brought my easel umbrella, more as signage, for folks wondering from afar, what I was doing there on the sidewalk...

Here's exactly what I was doing!

I had a huge line the whole time, so not alot of time for photos. I took these after my work time was done:

Here's this artist at the end of the evening. THANKS for having me!!

Community Family Day Caricatures

Another annual gig I do, that had a two-year gap between visits because of the pandemic, is this lovely Family Day event held at a municipal complex.  This is one of my favorite gigs---because it's my hometown, where I grew up and have many fond memories. Was glad to be back!

These two were stoic......UNTIL THEY SAW THEIR CARICATURE :-D
Memorably, the lady MAYOR and I discovered that I knew her sister in high school.  We were both on the school newspaper----where I was the CARTOONIST! :-)

Thanks to Bettes Bounces as always for providing my skills to this event! They are a local treasure to this community. :-)

Campus Caricatures in Dining Hall

Students at Chestertown, MD's historic Washington College have a committed culinary staff...they booked me to draw caricatures at a festive welcome-to-our-dining-hall event!

I incorporated the event's logo onto my caricatures, it worked really well with three people in a drawing:
They had some professional photos being taken and shared one on the college's Instagram:
Thanks for having me, Washington College!

Crabby Company Picnic Caricatures again! :-)

On Sunday, I trekked to the land of crabs again (Maryland) for another fun-filled picnic in a pavilion. This was for members of a volunteer fire company, on a perfectly beeeee-yootiful day...

This was a rather hilarious caricature reaction:
Yay!  They gifted me with a generous serving of crabs, which my hubby and I enjoyed immensely when I got home...
Client and I hooked up via The Bash...she had this to say in an email the next day:

Thanks so much! We all LOVED your pictures, in the most non-punny way they had so much character ðŸ˜†

Thanks, that is high praise to me ...my goal is to imbue all my drawings with humor and the character of their sitters.

Birthday party caricatures at the playground

Families have made it very common (and smart!) to have outdoor parties this year...and this birthday celebration for an 11-year-old was no exception. Held in a grove of trees near a public playground, it worked out very well. A tree even made a great display! :-)

I drew a unicorn with all the girls, and another fantasy figure for the one or two boys who attended. :-)

Thanks to The Bash for putting us together! My client had this to say:
Emily was very professional and the whole experience added a great touch to the party that everyone enjoyed!

Bridal shower caricatures, with a touch of purple

This bride-to-be loves purple....so it was fun to show that in the caricatures I did at her shower! Her fiance came in at the end, (WEARING PURPLE, how sweet!) so he could be in a color caricature with her:

The shower was held in a beautiful barn built especially for events. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Amish-made...

So here's a few of my drawings of the guests...with a big age range of ladies (which is fun for me!!)

Thanks for having me, what a fun afternoon!

Arden Fair 2021

I don't do fairs anymore...unless they are five minutes from home! This is a very long-tenured local arts festival held in Arden, Delaware every year (not 2020 of course). It's in a little village of quirky little homes on tiny one-lane roads, with a park and a theater. And was it fun! I did mostly color caricatures all day long, with my new friend Susan, drawing her retro pen & ink drawings, sharing the booth with me.

Even though it was close by, this is how early I had to get myself on the road to go set up...but on leaving my house, I got to see a beautiful pink sunrise and four moonflowers still in bloom...

My next door neighbor on the right sold costume jewelry...as soon as I spied these, I said SOLD!!!! Perfect for a silhouette artist!

On the other side was a tie-dye artist, so I bought something from her too, a new mask...
OK here is some of my output that day!

Here's the one pic I got of Susan...gotta admire a lady doing a crazy-busy fair not long after a hip replacement!!

Fun day!!!! Afterwards my hubby, Susan and I went to a Mexican place so she and I could have huge Margaritas :-)

A fabulous, fashion-forward 66th birthday party...with caricatures!

The birthday girl was resplendent in blue!

Here she is when she made her entrance with her canine companion. And her backyard was definitely amazingly decorated as a party venue:
The gazebo canopy was perfect as a caricature studio, because it did sprinkle a few raindrops here and there.  Here are some of her happy guests:

Thank you for having me and extending my time (thanks to her brother!!!)
They sent me home with a big bag of goodies to eat. I love all the great folks I meet through my job :-)
