Country Club Wedding Caricatures with a touch of lavender...

I keep getting events at this particular country club....it's a happenin' venue!

Unfortunately, rain forced the outdoor ceremony to be moved indoors:

Lavender for a wedding color makes for a very pretty palette. This was a large reception, so I did the bride and groom in color as I always do, and just line-drawing-only caricatures for the guests: (it's faster because there's no shading)

I took this adorable photo of the bride and her father just before they went in, she was happy to see it afterwards! Sometime Im in the right place to get photos even the photographers can't!
Thanks for having me!

Prom (not post-prom!) caricatures

I've done this school's late-night post-prom several times, but this year they invited me to draw at their actual prom, which was scheduled to be held in a big tent on their football field. Heavy rain changed that to indoors at their high school. They set me up in the library next to the Jenga game (!) LOL it scared my sitters more than me!

Here are some photos of the night. :)

Here is the delighted reaction of the four girls:
And a view of my table before the students returned for their caricatures:
By the way: they decorated their lav so cutely!!
Thanks for having me! :-)

Afternoon of ladies-and-babies caricatures!

Thanks to The Bash for hooking me up with the organizers of a charity who serve special families in many ways...this day by by creating a wonderful respite weekend for them at a hotel. I was the lady caricaturist in the room for the women, but I never did get to see who the gentleman caricaturist was in the room for the male guests. Fun for all though!

Backyard 40th Birthday Caricatures with a live band!

It was great to hear live music after so long NOT hearing live music! This lady's family put on a fab Betty-Boop-themed celebration for her!

AND they had CARICATURES!!! (of course, I added Betty Boop on all of them!)
Here's the birthday girl and a few guests...was trying to get them all done quickly, so not a lot of photos at this one.

AND they fed me some GOOD food afterwards! Mmmmmmm!
Thanks for having me, Falyn and Co! You know how to throw a party!!

Prom Caricatures on the Football Field!

Some years I draw at a lot of post-proms... and some years not. This is one of those years, obviously, throwing hundreds of high school seniors in an indoor space with bounce houses and other fun things to do is still probably risky. So instead,  I've been invited to a few actual proms, as opposed to the post-prom. This school tented up their ball field and invited its glamorous seniors to party and enjoy themselves as if it were the finest country club. And they did!

I worked alongside colleague and friend Julie B, trying to get as many kids done in a short time frame as possible... so only two caricature pics!!!

Those masked lady caricaturists are at it again!

Caricatures AND silhouettes at Bellefonte Arts Festival

Tentatively, cautiously, we are starting to get out and about more, people really want to experience just being around other people! I decided to be a part of a small arts festival, very close to my home in Delaware...I've done it in the past, but most years, the Saturday on which it's usually held is booked. This year, it was open....so there I went!

LOL the masked kid above didn't want himself to be photographed, but said I could take a pic of his drawing!

I actually made a new friend at this event. Local artist Susan Cathcart was drawing some folks up the street from me, some very stylized pen and ink portraits, and she was planning on roving around the fair, as she had done for some years. I invited her to sit with me in my tent, because two artists are better than one for making a spectacle!

I also cut out her silhouette!
Productive day and well worth it! :-)

Post Prom Caricatures....my only late-night gig this year

This school has booked me for many years to do their fabulous post-proms in spring. Usually, a parent group lavishly decorates the high school and it's a major event. This year, because of lingering pandemic concerns, they opted to use a local family fun spot. The feeling was, at least they're HAVING  a post-prom!  Luckily, they still invited me and my caricatures! I drew in a room with the Brady Bunch shrine!

Silhouettes at Afternoon Wedding Reception!

My cherished assistant-photographer-chauffeur husband accompanied me to this event, so I have some good photos from different vantage points. :-)
Here's a time-lapse of my set-up process:
...and here's the results!

My presence there was a surprise to the bride and groom;  the bride's brother had booked me for his own wedding a few years back. Here they are with their silhouettes, and their entrance.

My hubby got some nice action photos of me at work:

Another action video:

I pasted the duplicate silhouettes into a book for the bride and groom, here are a few of the pages:

Another successful silhouette artist event on the books (literally!)

On the way home, we witnessed a  beautiful sunset.

Bridgerton-themed Silhouettes on the waterfront!

On a gorgeous spring day in Maryland, I teamed up with the only other silhouette artist I know, to cut Bridgerton-themed silhouettes for guests of a special event, sponsored by Havre de Grace Living. This little girl was one of the volunteers, and my first silhouette of the afternoon!
Havre de Grace is at the confluence of the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay.
My colleague Ted Stuessy, of Shadow Cuts, sat with me, near the historic lighthouse. :-)
Here we are, set up and ready to snip! I wore my Edwardian dress and hat.

Here's Ted in action! We soon were both busy though, and I wasn't able to get a photo of one of his finished silhouettes.
Folks came in all sorts of period costumes!
Here's some of my work. The silhouettes all had HdGLiving's logo printed on the lower left.

When I got home, I photographed some of my offcuts. You can see how much fun I had cutting the intricate and interesting headwear!
Thanks to Gigsalad for putting us in touch with HdGLiving!
Here is the review I received, thank you so much!

Emily was one of two silhouette artists at a themed charity event and she was phenomenal. Not only did the guests rave about her, but she was so easy to work with. Flexible and a great communicator, will definitely hire again. Thank you!
