Company Christmas AND Retirement party caricatures!

I laughed so hard when I asked this new retiree what she wanted me to write on her caricature:

She said: BUH BYE!!!!!
Congrats to Kathie!

This party was held in a new-to-me venue, although I live not too far
away, Delaware Park Casino. Ambiance Reel...
Unusually, I did this gig on barstool chairs. And WAS right next to the bar and bartender, who got a close up view of my work in progress! She definitely took care of my iced tea needs.

Lotsa good faces at this one!

Goodnight!!

Retirement Party Caricatures

Gig prep: I used a very old marker I recently inherited from my late father to do the calligraphy on these caricature papers. He  was an artist, too.

Here's the beautiful lady who just retired! Since it was raining, her husband completely cleared out their garage so it could become a gorgeous setting for her "Denim and Diamonds" themed party.
Check out my IG Reel about it.

I didn't take any individual photos because her daughter was making a marvelous Caricature Gallery, so everyone could see and enjoy them!

Her other daughter made that cake! I told her if she wasn't doing caked professionally, she should be! And it was as delicious as it looked. Happy Retirement Jackie!

Retirement party Caricatures!

Here's the man of the hour with his wife! He danced right in, to the joy of all his guests, and that's how I drew him!
The venue was a refurbished old movie theater--I took this photo from the balcony, which used to be the projectionist's area. Can you spot my set-up?
Yup, just to the left of the guests of honor's table.
Lots of folks sat for me, here's a handful of them!

Thanks ever so much for having me!

NYE caricatures!

Happy New Year!!! Last night I drew for a big New Year's Eve bash at a retirement community. Step right up!
Yes, my sign is weird...they added an hour at the event, so I changed what was "8 pm" into "7 pm"....making it a five-hour gig instead of four. Ending 2018 auspiciously!!

Because I'd drawn here previously, I had a line waiting for me before I even started. These two were my fans!

They were definitely a fun-loving caricature-appreciating group!

So, this couple below were my very last drawing for 2018. I added some words from the song that he was singing to her ( they had been playing oldies all night) and they LOVED it.
Thanks for having me!!!! See you in 2019!!!! :-)

Holiday Gig #17 of 2015 (last one of the year, too!)

Again, not exactly a holiday gig, but a retirement---so, permanent holiday for this lady!
Her staff gussied up a wheelchair for her, and made her a Stooge!
Then they sang a specially-worded retirement song for her!
My drawing time covered the end of one shift and the beginning of another, so I was able to caricature LOTS of folks.
Thanks for having me!!

Retirement Caricatures!

In June, there are always plenty of teacher and other school-district employee retirements. These two ladies will now be free to pursue a more leisurely life! :-)
These are examples of my  11 x 14 "Color Party-Style" caricatures done in my studio from photos.
They start out as very rough sketches which I show the client for approval before finishing.
I get a general likeness in the rough, but the specific likeness comes as I work on the final. After I get the approval, I transfer the drawing using a lightbox onto good paper, then ink and color away!

Another retiring teacher commission

This is another one of my "party-style" studio caricatures. This lady has a lot of hobbies!!
After I had sketched it out and inked it, I took a sip of my Earl Grey...and then sneezed!
Re-DRAW! ;-)

Retirement Caricature!

This is a party-style caricature done for a retiring teacher, who will be relaxing  a lot more now!
I have to admit, one of my favorite types of caricature background is the beach and the ocean!
Below: Here is how she looked as a line drawing. I usually submit it at this stage to the client for any input. After I add color, there can be no changes.
Color adds a lot!!!!
