Backyard 5th Birthday Caricatures!

This lucky little girl got a backyard carnival for her birthday, including a huge inflatable water slide, games and my caricatures! There were a few raindrops here and there, too.

I was in the shade next to the shed...

Cape May Wedding Caricatures

It was my pleasure to return to the Peter Shields Inn in Cape May for the second time in my career, to draw caricatures at an intimate family wedding reception. Such a great couple, and venue!

There's the bride on her way across the street, to her beach wedding!
Below is my view from the porch.
Then I went inside and finished setting up in the front parlor:
The guests were quite happy to get caricatures!

Then, the bride and groom...
So sweet!
I really love being a part of my clients' big day. Thank you for having me!!

Project Grad Caricatures!!!!!

I've missed doing late-night high-school events with hordes of giggling grads!

these girls made my night with this reaction:

Good to be back in a gym drawing caricatures. Thank you, Tumbling Dice!

Heartwarming HS Graduate Caricature...

...because I drew her first-communion caricature too!  (in 2011)

And she even brought it to display at her graduation party, held in a country club I had just worked a wedding in, a few weeks prior. I was very touched. :-)

Thank you for having me back!

Cocktail party/award ceremony super-hero caricatures...

This gentleman film historian was one of two recipients of an award from the prestigious Philadelphia Film Society (I didn't get a photo of the lady recipient , as I drew her before she won)...
The client, who came to me via The Bash, requested super-hero bodies for everyone! So I printed up a male and female version, then had only to add the faces. And, in the interests of getting everyone drawn in inside of two hours, I did my line-drawing only caricatures.  Here are some of the other guests:

The  festivities were held in a nice commons area in a Center City condo...
These were VERY cushy and unusual chairs from what I usually sit on at gigs!
Here's a view out the front window, some of the old and new buildings of Philadelphia:

Thanks for having me!

Art & Wine Caricatures among the Cicadas!

On a sultry June evening, I joined some wine-sipping art fans at a farm museum near Havre de Grace, Maryland, to add my caricatures to the mix. Apparently, this was the mother-lode location for the 2021 cicada invasion, even more so than my earlier gig that day. Listen to this incessant buzz:
And cicada carcasses were literally falling out of the trees here!
I had fun drawing the patrons, all of whom were saying they were used to it but they'd be gone soon. Actually once night fell, the noise did pretty much stop!

Thanks to my client, whom I had previously drawn at a wedding in Delaware a couple of years ago and thought I'd be a good fit here. :-)
The sun set over the Susquehanna and I headed home after a good two-gig day. :-)

Grad party caricatures with a side of cicadas

Fun afternoon spent with a happy grad, his family and friends, and billions of cicadas making a racket and falling out of the sky! I should have drawn some on the caricatures!
Congrats, Kaleem!

After this afternoon event I headed down the highway to do an early evening gig in Maryland!

A Country Club Wedding...with my caricatures

I think this wedding reception may have been my third event at this particular country club in Delaware? My caricaturing started off at the outdoor cocktail hour, then moved inside. Here are the very thrilled bride and groom:

Love that you can see the hand sanitizer station behind these two:

What a fantastic family feeling that was evident at this reception---thank you for having me!

Caricatures at a 'Dress Code: WHITE' Wedding!

EVERYONE wore white at this wedding! So I had to get creative with a background on the bride and groom's sign-in caricature (done from photos beforehand.) Usually I use the wedding color as the background---and for the guests' caricatures, I used yellow-gold...but the bride-and-groom's drawing needed a little more ooomph. I like how the white spotlight turned out!

The bride specified white on her invitation:

And her guests and I (mostly) complied!

My dress was actually white flecked with black threads..because a pure white dress and Copic Sketchmarkers don't play well together ;-) And my compulsory wedding-gig fascinator is black to go with the dress...

Cool ice sculpture!!
A few more caricatures:

These two newlywed guests had a GREAT caricature reaction:
Congratulations James and Marcia and thanks for having me!
