Caricature Resolution 2019

Caricature Resolution 2019 Facebook,   Caricature Resolution 2019 Instagram:

For the second January in a row, I've participated in this online art challenge, held on both FB and IG, to do one caricature a day in any medium. All the artists use the same list of subjects, this year it was Strong Influential Women. Although I would have been a little happier had there been fewer singers and actresses, (where was the Notorious Ruth Bader Ginsburg?) it was fun to see all the different takes on the same subject, and to discipline myself to do one quick sketch EVERY DAY. My favorites were JK Rowling and  Malala, shown bottom right, and Cher and Meryl Streep (bottom left). I used a regular ballpoint pen, and drew them all in a little sketchbook.
Here's a link to my Instagram  or my album on my Caricatures by Emily FB page  if you want to see my individual drawings.

Drawing Caricatures for the Orange and Black...

Baltimore is always awash in orange/black for the Orioles and purple for the Ravens, but I was drawing the baseball variety of caricatures for 2019 Fanfest this past weekend. Decided to try using my very old lecturers chalk for color, as my Prismacolor Artstix don't seem to be made to the high quality standards that they used to be. The chalk is great for getting pastel effects, so great for shading skin tones ( especially cheeks!!!! :), but it's messy and grubby on the artist who's using it. :-/

Yes I know, I accidentally wrote 'Opening Day' on my sample caricature. I guess I want Spring to get here---I am not a fan of Winter.
One of my colleagues remarked that my sample (an imaginary kid I just made up) looked like a baby Edward G. Robinson....I could see that...
Me and my buddy Gary. :-)
Let's go, O's! (anything is better than last year!)

Post-holiday party caricatures!

Some places of work, like this doctor's office, hold their holiday festivities in January when all is calm. I like that! I also like drawing to delightful steel drum music, but the musician was in the front office where I couldn't see him...

They also had the biggest prosciuto I've ever seen!!!
as part of a very nice spread!
Thanks for having me! :-)

Caricatures at my first Wedding Reception of 2019

This lovely wedding reception was held in a truly impressive, rustic venue on the Delaware River. The groom (and now the bride:) are relatives of a long-time treasured client of mine, so I drove a bit further than I normally do for a gig. It was so worth it!
Live music too!

The bride and groom opted to be drawn from wedding photos later, so here are a few drawings from that evening.
Caricature reaction of parents-to-be!
More guests!
Oooops---I just noticed I put 2018 on the photos. Oh well, as long as my papers at the gig say 2019!
(they did ;-)

Thank you bunches for having me!! :-)

Caricatures at an elegant 60th Birthday!

What a gorgeous spot to draw!!!
This is the birthday girl and her hubby making their entrance! She had a walking cast on her foot but it didn't prevent her from DANCING the night away (and getting her caricature!)
Now for some caricatures!

Thanks for having me!!!

NYE caricatures!

Happy New Year!!! Last night I drew for a big New Year's Eve bash at a retirement community. Step right up!
Yes, my sign is weird...they added an hour at the event, so I changed what was "8 pm" into "7 pm"....making it a five-hour gig instead of four. Ending 2018 auspiciously!!

Because I'd drawn here previously, I had a line waiting for me before I even started. These two were my fans!

They were definitely a fun-loving caricature-appreciating group!

So, this couple below were my very last drawing for 2018. I added some words from the song that he was singing to her ( they had been playing oldies all night) and they LOVED it.
Thanks for having me!!!! See you in 2019!!!! :-)
