Silhouettes at the Irish Festival! with time-lapse videos

My hubby is Irish and I'm 25%, so we love going to the MD Irish Festival in the autumn.  This year I again did silhouettes for donations to MD Irish Charities, It is such a fun vibe there (but it's always chilly in the big, unheated fairground building). My husband took some cool time-lapse videos of my cutting skills for me.

My scissors and I donated time and hand-cut silhouettes to Irish Charities of Maryland at the big festival in Timonium...

The Maryland Irish Festival is always a merry sea o' green, and I shared a spot with my friend, artist-photographer Patrick Harnett. Check out HIS Facebook page for his 'Ireland the Olde Country' photographs---which are more like paintings. He has A LOT of fans!

Speaking of painting, I brought the hard-working Iwata Eclipse with me and airbrushed plenty of folks with their alcoholic treats... along with shamrocks....and little Irish dancers. 

I even drew an engagement caricature! It wasn't THE actual engagement, it was a 'we want THIS instead of a formal engagement photo'! WOW! ;-D

A wee bit more from the Irish Festival...

Two of my airbrush caricatures got a little video attention from me…

On the left are three board members who are good friends. This was done from separate photos, as they were far to busy to sit, and was used as my sample. Lots of folks passing by knew just who they were and took photos of it! The couple on the right had neat headwear and were just a joy to draw.

It's Irish Festival time!
These are all airbrush caricatures. I didn't feel like using artstix for some reason. Using a handcut stencil for shamrocks is quicker than drawing them. 

Shared booth space with Ireland: The Old Country---Patrick Harnett's calendars and tin signs.  A native Irishman, he took amazing photos of castles and landmarks and transformed them by adding surreal sunsets.

I don't really drink (the Guinness and Jameson were flowing freely here) but I did have potatoes, cabbage, ham, Irish beef stew and champ!

Last month, I drew at the big Irish festival in Maryland again---and you just can't beat drawing to live music, especially if you are far enough away to hold a conversation with your subject! Here's a snippet of my day there:

2012 Irish Festival

The day before heading to the ISCA convention in San Antonio, I was caricaturing my little (25%) Irish fingers off at the annual Irish festival...

Wait! She's NOT Irish!!  I had a run of faces who were just Irish-for-the-day :-) This young lady is an exchange student from China, who wanted to be drawn doing an Irish jig. She showed me how to write her name in Chinese, and I added it at the top.

Wait! SHE'S not Irish, either! But---she has a typical gingery, pasty-skinned, Guiness-loving guy for a hubby! ;-)

Now for some actual Irish dancers:

This couple, for me, were so much fun to draw. First of all, they wanted an airbrushed one (the rest are all artstix.) She was wearing green eyeshadow and lots of bling. They had a crowd of family members watching, and quite a happy reaction when I showed them. 

I happened to see her later, and she was still clutching their caricature!

That's the kind of music to get your toes tappin'. Also, this is the ONLY gig of the year where my snack food of the day is "champ".

Irish Festival on a warm summer day: music, beer and CARICATURES

Yesterday, the other half and I found ourselves among thousands of those wearing green, whether they were Irish or not: (an awful lot were, of course.)

So cute!

 Two little brothers who probably will share a beer---hopefully twenty years from now ;-)

 I am pretty sure the girl on the left isn't Irish.

 Siblings are always fun for me to draw.

 I loved the expression on the daughter in this one!

 Had to do a full-body on a caricature of a guy in a kilt:

 This little one sat on my extra chair and watched avidly for quite awhile before I drew her.

 These two joined my FB page right away, and made this caricature their avatars!! I am having a giveaway on Monday--- for those who join my fan page from the fair-- for a free digital cartoon-style caricature of one person!
