September Wedding Caricatures!

 September is a beautiful month to have a wedding at a country club! And to have MINI-caricatures for the guests at the reception! But first, the bride and groom's deluxe, color. large caricature:

I was set up right at the edge of the ballroom:

...and I had an eager line for three hours straight. In that time, since there was a steady supply of faces, I was able to draw SIXTY people! I was doing my line-drawing-only speed mode as MINI-caricatures, on blue paper. Here are ALL of them!

...and the last one was of a guest who had gone home already, but her mom had a great photo of her!

What a wonderful evening, it was a total pleasure to be a part of it!

1st Birthday Caricatures for a mini-cutie!

All polka-dotted pink and gold balloons for this little one's family 1st birthday party, held in a country club:

Lotsa little babies in addition to the birthday girl, whom I drew in color...

The adult couples were just as excited to get caricatures as the kids had been to meet Minnie Mouse. I really liked adding pink and gold backgrounds to the caricatures. 

Then there was this lone, stoic teen guest....what a hero! And I just could not bring myself to add a pink/gold background to this one.

Caricatures with a French flair

An illustrious country club venue was decked out in French flags and this artiste for a formal dinner-dance for a group of medical professionals.  Thanks to the-Nose.com...I love wearing my beret (and polka dots!)

I was seated near the cafe!

Backgrounds of red and blue, of course. Everyone got an Eiffel Tower on their caricature, too.

Pool party...

The sweltering heat continued unabated on Saturday as I drew at a community pool party that I've done twice before, but for the kids. This time it was for the grown-ups. When I arrived, the DJ showed me the newsletter the members had received:

Awwww! How nice! (And add the writer the the huge ranks of those who can't spell 'caricaturist' ;-)
So I got right to business drawing those who could drag themselves out of the pool on such a hot day:






The lifeguards wanted a group caricature WITH shades and whistles...it's hanging in a place of honor in their office already!
My little drawing ability was only one of an assortment of talents that the club hosted for the evening. There was also a stilt-walker and a fire-eater ( well, actually he was the same person) and a young lady who was a contortionist/gymnast. I never know what I will get to see at any given gig! Enjoy the pics and video (all taken without budging off my caricature chair!)
(Below) as the gymnast was warming up, the off-duty lifeguards planted themselves right in front of her and became instant fans!

This last photo has quite the story to go with it. These two boys sat for one of the first caricatures, (note older brother's dry hair in the drawing) when I'd just arrived. I asked the mom if I could photograph them since younger brother had HUGE attitude and style (check out those glasses--I never DID see his eyes!). Anyway, Little BRO adamantly did NOT want his photo taken so I didn't force it. They left and I was a little bummed to have not gotten one, but quickly forgot as my line formed and fun was had by all...
Later, right when my allotted time was up, they came back. The mom conspiratorially sat him in the chair, with her body between me and them, saying, "we're just going to sit here in the shade for a minute, buddy." She then stepped away and I snapped away! But not fast enough for the little guy to react "NOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Country Club Grand Opening

My Sunday afternoon was spent poolside. Not swimming, but drawing (which I love just as much...)!
The first little face waited patiently while I set up. There were enough chairs to use as a line, so the kids could sit and watch until it was their turn.






Summer's here!

Happy Fourth of July!

Last night I drew under the fireworks! This video was shot with my left hand while my right hand was drawing...

In previous years at this country club's Independence Day celebration, my caricaturing usually ended at dusk. Not this year! The face painter and I, due to popular demand, were asked to continue til it was over. So we moved from our spot under a tree to the patio, where we created our various forms of art literally til the plug was pulled on the DJ's power (where my lights were plugged in). Here are some pre-sunset caricatures!

Bat Mitzvah!

On Saturday evening, I drew at a bat mitzvah held in a country club. Perhaps this gig was a personal record for me, as it was my fourth event in less than 24 hours. The common question I get from onlookers about whether my hand hurts from so much drawing, actually had an answer by the end of this day...not my hand so much as my upper back! However, it's an occupational hazard I'll suffer gladly, to be able to make smiles by drawing smiles!
