Wedding caricatures in a secret walled garden...

On Friday night, in a venerable but vibrant old section of Philadelphia, I found myself in a venue that the outside showed no inkling of the beauty within...a beautiful garden of greenery in a courtyard...

My location was just inside the building on the right side of the photo...(you can see more in my IG post.)

The beautiful bride (loved her dress!) had asked me to do "mini" caricatures for the guests, 5" x 5" and I enjoyed the challenge! Of course, the bride and groom got a large color caricature.

Hmmmmm. I'll make those guest caricatures show up a little bigger...
And here's one of the flower girl,  but she escaped before I got a photo of her...

A nice thing about this smaller size was easier transport for the guests while at the reception, and they can be easily framed in a 5 x 7 frame.  AND I can put them in translucent cellophane envelopes instead of plastic bags!

I have to add that the venue, Sculpture Courtyard, and the wedding coordinator, PhillyDIYweddings were both FABULOUS and made my job even easier.

Finally, thanks to the bride and groom, who left this lovely feedback on my The Bash profile:

We hired Emily to draw caricatures for our wedding reception and she was AMAZING! We wanted to do something a little different from the usual photo booth and our guests LOVED it! Emily is super talented and went above and beyond to do smaller format caricatures for our guests to easily take home and even threw in one of our two kitties! Look no further for your caricature artist needs!

Summer silhouette wedding at gorgeous estate's arboretum

It was a perfect summer evening for a wedding in Pennsylvania, and for a silhouette artist to do her thing! My client, the bride, is a historian, and she provided a sign explaining the history of silhouettes, that was so sweet!

Cocktail hour was on the terrace, so I was set up long beforehand, and ready to go, with plenty of time to listen to the harpist and cellist, and see the ceremony from afar:

When the ceremony was over, the guests meandered over--I was busy immediately....so, only took a photo of the first silhouette of the evening...the officiant!

Once cocktail hour ended, we all headed into the elegantly appointed tent and I continued at a quick pace.

The duplicate silhouettes went into the guest book, and the guests' hands as wedding favors!

The bride provided her own guest book, it was lovely!
But I filled it with these:

Thank you for having me at your lovely wedding!

Beautiful micro-wedding at the beach, with my caricatures as wedding favors!

This couple couldn't have had a more perfect day for their wedding ceremony and reception...comfortable temps, low humidity and a gorgeous view of the beach made it a total pleasure! (And the venue did its part, too! ;-)

The Peter Shields Inn and Restaurant has recommended my services to quite a few brides and grooms now, for which I am very thankful...

because I love visiting Cape May, and making people happy with my drawings!

This time, instead of being inside, in the elegant parlor, I was outside on the breezy front porch!
My subjects were seated in the comfy wicker loveseat.

And I was honored to witness their ceremony (above).

Cocktail hour commenced with drinks and caricatures!

During the toasts and meal, I worked on the bridal caricature from a photo:
They were surprised!

Thank you both for having me!
And also for the unexpected hilarity of the greeting-the-guests wedding mirror:
Tee-hee!! 😆 but probably true for 99% of all brides!
