More Fair caricatures...

A couple of Justin Bieber-y siblings: Paul did the one on the left, I did the one on the right. I've been trying to draw bigger here, to fill more of the paper. And I am still aspiring to better my airbrush skills...having a photo of one of mine next to one of Paul's is a big motivator!!!

A little artist girl and her mommy and daddy: she really did have a crayon and notebook that she scribbled on while I drew them. Her parents said she was intently watching me draw as they waited in line. I told them to keep her well-equipped with art stuff----that interest shows up early (it did in my case!)

Seems like all the babies are adorable in TX.

This guy had on a Dallas hat, a state fair t-shirt, and even Dallas skyline sneakers! (too bad I found that out after I'd drawn him.)

This girl loves Halloween! (and posed liked that!)

Dinner was my favorite Fair fare: a beef "fajita taco" from Desperadoes Restaurant's booth, which is a couple booths down from us. They are also selling "Fried Margaritas" but I am steering clear of those!

Caricatures with sunglasses, etc...

I've had a run on these lately! Usually I ask if they really want their sunglasses on in a caricature (it's kind of like cheating since I don't have to draw their eyes) but these people did want 'em.

This young lady wanted to look like Joan Jett. She had a reference photo with her, but I wouldn't have needed it!

This guy said, "Draw me with big eyes!"

Celestia had an interesting request: "Draw me with this mask from 'V for Vendetta'..."

Below: two views of the crowds near our booth.

On my break I saw this SPAM-headed lady on the day people competed with their Spam confections (retch).

The Fair continues...

I'm still in Texas...the weather is still perfect... Big Tex still towers over us all...and the caricatures keep coming!

Below, in no particular order, are some of the faces that have sat in front of my easel this past week:

I told this young man he seemed to be the happiest person I'd drawn that day.

I used the colors in this girl's t-shirt for the background too.

This little guy with the unusual name isn't in his photo because he'd had enough of posing! (He's two years old--enough said!)
I drew him last year too.
Below: Couples of assorted varieties!

Someone bought my previous Lady Gaga sample so I made another one!

On Thursday, Senior Citizen day at the Fair, I got to draw some ladies who were in a huge group of tie-dyed oldsters:

More fun ones:

Reed and his grandpa had very specific requests for the caricature, which I was happy to do!
Below:
On the way to the ladies room during my workday, I pass by exhibits and competitions. Here's a few of those:

Red and Burnt Orange...

This past weekend was the big Texas/Oklahoma football game known as the "Red River Rivalry." It's held in the Cotton Bowl stadium, to which our caricature stand is right next door. It's the day I go through alot of red and burnt orange paint and markers--here's a sampling!

Below: some fans' attire, LOL.

Not everyone came for the game:

I can't believe I fit FOUR cowboy hats in one caricature!! (The dad is holding it above their heads.)

This girl was wearing a BEATLES t-shirt!! So of course I had to draw it.

These two siblings looked like they'd had a long day at the fair-- which ended with a caricature.

Samples and stuff...

The weather here in Dallas as been picture-perfect. So much so that it's been perfect for (caricature) pictures! I did these two quick samples last week before we were deluged with customers:

Everyone knows who Lady Gaga is, but I've only heard about two people say. "Oooh!! Jon Stewart!!"
Below are Vlad's and Paul's 2010 samples:

Some of my work over the last few days:

Below: in this, my third year at the Fair, I've finally seen Texas BASEBALL fans! Hmm, wonder why? ;-)

Vlad did the kid, I did the expectant mom (above).

Above: this husband literally dragged his reluctant wife into my spot for a caricature. After she saw it (and loved it!) he got his done too... :-)

Tamales with chili and cheese for dinner!
