Caricatures at a 70th birthday party for a lovely lady

She was surprised!!!! Her family picked a quaint old restaurant to get everyone together. She though she was going to someone else's party.
She didn't notice me at first, I was in a far corner:
and I got very busy after her entrance!

Thanks for having me!!

Spring Networking events are more fun with caricatures!

A beautiful spring afternoon and I think this was my first outdoor event of the season...

Another gig via Gigsalad! It was for healthcare professionals, but one of the residents at the venue wanted in on the caricatures! Yay!

Sporty Bar Mitzvah celebration

He likes Philly sports teams!!!
Here's the scene before the guests arrived:
Then, THIS!!
I gotta say, thirteen-year-old boys are fun to be around.
Not every guest was a thirteen-year-old boy, though.
Here's the whole crew:
Yes , I drew most of these kids!! :-)
Thanks for having me!!!!

Wrestling caricatures

This past weekend, I crammed many hours of caricaturing into one long day. But that's fun to me! First up was a wrestling tournament, and my drawing time was during the little-guy matches:
Since I was there representing CaricaturesbyRick.com, I was able to use Rick's pre-printed wrestling papers, and just draw heads (and medals if they had any!)
I even drew the late lamented Mr. Spock wrestling, during some down time, with that pose. ;-)
This one was allll drawn by me. That doesn't seem like a legal wrestling move.
The girls who sat for me had other ideas. She wanted the Oriole Bird:
And SHE wanted a gymnastics pose. Not just ANY gymnastics pose, though...she had an image on her phone she wanted me to to draw:
She was pretty surprised when I told her her I actually knew the MAD artist who drew that!
And thanks, Rick!

GIFS. Otherwise known as animated images...

Yes, I'm waaaaay behind the bandwagon on this. But I just learned how to make GIFS in Photoshop!! Apparently they are becoming as popular as they were in their heyday, way back in the '90's.

This is from a set of photos my Other Half took at Jimmy and Brittany's wedding a few weeks ago.

Being Caricatured in Bangkok...

Even though our trip to Thailand was a little over a year ago. I juuuuuust got around to making some videos. This one is of the day my son, my Other Half and I got a caricature in Jatujak Market.

Instragram trawling again

I decided to see what was under the hashtag "charactures" on Instagram, and found one of mine! (among a couple hundred others who don't know how to spell "caricature" ;-)

O's Fans galore...

Another early-morning drive south for me ended up at the Baltimore Convention Center, for Orioles Fanfest 2014. I missed it the last couple of years due to visiting Thailand, but was able to get right back into the swing of it. :-)
Rick had his 'A team' drawing in an orange frenzy..
Yeah, I'm a terrible kid.
All seven of us were kept busy, and somewhat unusually, it wasn't predominantly kids--lots of couples got a caricature this year too:
Above: His parents told me it was a perfect likeness. I wasn't too sure!!!
Here's the scene on my hurriedly-returning-from-the-ladies'-room-break:
Before the festivities began, I found myself in the upstairs Starbucks, above which was a rather interesting, somewhat caricature-y mural of Baltimore scenery and citizens…
This was the second sunset I've seen in 2014 on the way to caricaturing:
Found this online the next day. The caption says the subject had "always wanted to be caricatured but had never gotten around to it" :-)
Play ball! (in two months anyway)

Next stop: Birdland

The next caricaturing locale for Celestia and I was Oriole Park at Camden Yards,
where we met up with Toonboy to ply our trade at a couple of games. Several O's employees remarked to us that they'd NEVER seen two ladies drawing there before (I draw occasionally for Rick, but for the most part, it's a male-dominated caricature concession. Heck, it's a male-dominated industry!
I bet none of Rick's other artists ever had an Orioles' orange-and-black pedicure like Celestia did!
I'll share some of my output first.
Above: These ladies wanted me to pose for their photograph, so I snagged one with them as well.
Above: Your basic O's-themed caricature.
Some more couples:
Below: Gary "Toonboy" Smith has such a deft touch with the chalk and glove method:
I really admire his cartooning skills. No one does the Oriole Bird like him! And fitting in three well-executed bodies, all doing different baseball-y things, is a feat.
Celestia's feat was of a different sort: putting four rather-inebriated men on one paper, and doing an awesome job of it:
Bravo! In contrast, these ladies were just dolled up, not inebriated but still fun:
Here's another Vine I did of Celestia doing a BW couple:
We had time to check out the game for a little bit...that's the Yankees behind us!
Go O's!
