Silhouettes at lovely backyard wedding...

This was so sweet. They got married on their back porch! I had a front row seat, where I was set up to cut duplicate silhouettes--one for the guest and one for the bride and groom's guestbook!.

Prior to the wedding, I cut this 8 x 10 bride-and-groom silhouette from their photos, so I could display it at the reception. Only I wasn't sure how the bride's hair would be styled...so I left the back of her head uncut. When I saw she had an elegant, long French braid, it was the only part I had to do before slipping it into a fancy frame! It elicited oohs and aaaahs from the guests, but the bride herself gave a delighted scream when she saw it! :-)

My setup in a delighfully whimsical backyard. More on that later.

First, some of my silhouettes!

I decided to try video-ing a little something different: a view of the finished guestbook!

And I managed to get a couple of time-lapses of my scissor-flashing hands!

Finally, a montage of some of the beautiful sights at this wedding.

The bride's sister-in-law was instrumental in pulling it all together. Bravo and thank you for having me and my silhouettes be a part of it!

Bridgerton-themed Silhouettes on the waterfront!

On a gorgeous spring day in Maryland, I teamed up with the only other silhouette artist I know, to cut Bridgerton-themed silhouettes for guests of a special event, sponsored by Havre de Grace Living. This little girl was one of the volunteers, and my first silhouette of the afternoon!
Havre de Grace is at the confluence of the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay.
My colleague Ted Stuessy, of Shadow Cuts, sat with me, near the historic lighthouse. :-)
Here we are, set up and ready to snip! I wore my Edwardian dress and hat.

Here's Ted in action! We soon were both busy though, and I wasn't able to get a photo of one of his finished silhouettes.
Folks came in all sorts of period costumes!
Here's some of my work. The silhouettes all had HdGLiving's logo printed on the lower left.

When I got home, I photographed some of my offcuts. You can see how much fun I had cutting the intricate and interesting headwear!
Thanks to Gigsalad for putting us in touch with HdGLiving!
Here is the review I received, thank you so much!

Emily was one of two silhouette artists at a themed charity event and she was phenomenal. Not only did the guests rave about her, but she was so easy to work with. Flexible and a great communicator, will definitely hire again. Thank you!

Silhouettes at a Wilmington, Delaware wedding...

The University and Whist Club in Wilmington was the setting for  this couple's lovely wedding reception, which included my silhouettes!

I started out during the cocktail hour in the older part of the mansion:
...then moved, along with the guests, to a large elegant dining room...there were large screens for the guests to see everything up close!
My spot was right by the entrance so my sitters didn't miss a thing:
Since there was a very large number of guests, and it was non-stop busy, I hardly got any photos---but here are two:
His hair was amazing, how could I not get a photo of that!
It was fun for me to see the results of my flying scissors propped up on various tables.
Thank you so much for having my silhouette artistry at your reception! ;-)
The venue liked my art so much, they invited me to be a part of their wedding fair in 2020.

Silhouettes by Emily at the 2020 Irish Festival

Yes, this is an Irish lass----whom I actually cut from memory, as I've seen this classic movie (and others of hers) enough times to know her profile by heart. She ended up being my sample silhouette this year. Do you know who she is?
Lots of green to be seen here! I love decorating my silhouette-cutting spot!

It It wasn't ALL scissor-cutting all the  time...I did eat and watch some Irish dancing!

Slan for now!

DCAD Art Party 2019--Silhouettes!

Ready to cut!!! Delaware College of Art and Design had me back fo another fundraising soiree, where my silhouettes were courtesy of our local Jerry's Artarama. :-)
See some ambiance below!

Here are some time-lapse videos of my flying scissors!

Since I had my personal photographer along (my husband) there are more images of me than usual!

Silhouettes at a birthday party!

A daughter booked me for her silhouette-loving mom's 60th birthday party in their home. She'd had her children done back in the 90's at a children's boutique event--they are the framed ones in the top row. Below, you can see my silhouettes of them----as adults!

So I spent a lovely afternoon chatting with their guests while I cut silhouettes at a card table set up in the living room...
This is a view of my table top:
The unquestioned star of the party was the first (and only) grandchild of the birthday girl and her husband, this is the little guy with his mom. I cut quite a few versions of him for everyone who wanted one.
Thank you to my client, and to Gigmasters!

I cut silhouettes at a wedding expo!

This is my table at a wedding expo which was put on by West Chester Wedding Guide. Hashtag #WCWG2019!
I showed samples of both silhouettes and caricatures, but focused on cutting complimentary silhouettes for the guests, all of whom were brides-to-be, with either their fiance or their mom. :-)
My banner is brand new from Goshen Signs!
The 18 x 24 frame holding all the silhouettes on the left is a sample of what couples can do with their guests' silhouettes, since I cut two of everyone at a reception!
The event was held at the American Helicopter Museum, which is actually a really unique wedding venue as well! The huge, heated hangar had lot of different helicopters on display and nice amenities.

This is the view of the vendor across the aisle from me, Triple Fresh Market---they do catering----but they used to be my little corner store! So I can definitely vouch for how good their food is. :-)

My dad worked for Boeing Vertol for many years, so helicopters are cool to me!

Silhouettes at the Irish Festival! with time-lapse videos

My hubby is Irish and I'm 25%, so we love going to the MD Irish Festival in the autumn.  This year I again did silhouettes for donations to MD Irish Charities, It is such a fun vibe there (but it's always chilly in the big, unheated fairground building). My husband took some cool time-lapse videos of my cutting skills for me.

Awww!!!

Silhouettes at a fundraiser-dinner!

My scissors were so busy at this Black-and-White themed fundraiser event for Cecil County Arts Council. Such variety of headshapes, hairstyles and hatwear!
Everyone enjoyed seeing my process, and couldn't believe that I did not need to draw anything first, which is the magic of traditional silhouette cutting!
I was seated right at a table along with guests. Thank you for having me!
