Surprise 50th birthday caricatures!

 This party was extra special to me, because ten years ago, this gentleman (whose 50th was being celebrated) booked me to do his daughter's 1st birthday party. This time, his wife booked me for this SURPRISE party, and she had him totally shocked when he came in!

And they served ice cream to everyone ( I needed some after a fabulous Indian meal!)

Stealth caricatures at 50th birthday bash!

This was a beautiful black/gold themed birthday party, held at Bally's Casino! 

I had done the birthday boy's caricature beforehand in my studio:

Once enough guests had arrived, I walked around with my clipboard and drew unsuspecting guests! Because it was a two-hour booking and I needed to get as many folks done as possible, my sequence was to draw five or six people, hold on to the drawings, place them on a table in the back and take a photo, then dole them out. It worked perfectly! I only wish I had gotten reaction shots at this event, many people did total double takes and it was such a hoot!

Sweet 50th birthday caricatures...

 This birthday gal's DJ husband saw me at an event TEN YEARS AGO and kept my card, and they just booked me for her 50th this past weekend. :-)

Yes I added the final "n" in her name... after he showed me I forgot to fit it in! My brain gets way ahead of itself sometimes...

Yes, he know everyone thinks he looks like Tony Soprano. ;-P

We couldn't even remember the event where we met, but his wife told me he looked it up in his notes and it was a wedding in 2013.  Good note-keeping!!

It was a small group, so I did everyone in color. Here are a few (the ladies reacted with good-natured screams when they saw them!)

50th Birthday caricatures in a swell venue!

It's the second time I've been back to this venue, The Creamery of Kennett Square. This time I set up further down in their private party space. 

Fifty-year-olds don't look like they did when I was a kid. Maybe 50 is the new 30????

70's-themed Double-50th Birthday party caricatures!

They called it a "Century party"! Husband and wife both celebrating a 50th birthday. I drew for this family several years previously at a grad party, it was nice to return!

Backyard 50th Birthday

Because the pandemic is limiting numbers of guests, I can do MORE per caricature at a two-hour party...this one was a group of sisters and friends, who get together every year from great distances, and my caricatures were the surprise entertainment! The birthday girl is in the center with her color caricature, and I was able to do in-joke themes on her guests AND a group caricature!

50th Birthday Celebration at a riverside mansion

 Can you believe she's 50? I couldn't, either.

My afternoon at her party began by finding a spectacular parking spot!!

The party was being held on the banks of the Susquehanna River, in a glorious old mansion. My easel and I were situated on the big stone porch:
