Lots of Cub Scouts!

Last night, it was boy after boy after boy in front of my easel, at a Cub Scout dinner. Wolves and bears and tiger cubs, oh my! The other entertainment besides myself was an animal show with snakes and rats and such. After all the boys were caricatured, I was asked to stay on a little longer to get siblings drawn, too. Here is a photo, taken for me by the Scout Leader, of the kids who were still there at the end of the evening. In two and a half hours, I drew probably close to forty people. Thanks for a fun time, Scouts!

Corporate Formal Event

Last night, I had the double pleasure of not only drawing at a lovely event, but seeing the corporate president be presented with a beautifully framed and matted caricature (drawn by me from a photo last week). The matt was signed by his immediate employees, and it was presented during the speeches preceding dinner. His executive secretary pulled it off, secretly, right under his nose!

Another nice touch was enjoying a sushi buffet during a break. Taking a short break is a rarity during most gigs, as my intent is to get the most people drawn that I can in the allotted time; but here, the other artist and I were able to stop briefly while the speeches were going on.

Women's Conference

This evening, for five hours, I drew middle-aged ladies. They are the one group
(aside from teenage girls) that I am never sure, when I present their caricature, if they are going to scream with laughter or shudder in dismay...
these ladies were game, as long as I didn't draw their teeth!!



I worked this gig with a fellow artist, Rick Wright, whom I usually see at Baltimore Orioles games. He's an NCN member who didn't get to go to the con, so I bent his ear with stories about it during our break, and we took these two photos of ourselves....

Saturday, Round 2

My evening was spent drawing caricatures at an awards banquet!





I forgot to pack my easel lamp with my stuff today, because I didn't need it for the daytime gig. When I arrived at the hotel for the nighttime event, I realized my light was on my studio desk...first time I have forgotten anything for a gig in years. Luckily, the hotel staff provided me with a small table and a fancy lamp, so my set-up looked really swanky!
