Silhouettes by Emily at Gala Fundraiser!

For my first event of the evening, the scissors and I found ourselves at a country club, silhouetting some dressy guests who were attending a gala fundraiser...

"Wow, you're a silhouette artist?"

Everyone enjoyed experiencing an artform that 95% of them had never seen done before!

At the end of my appointed time, I had one hour to drive 15 miles and start at my second event...ALSO a gala fundraiser, but as a caricature artist! (next post ;)

First holiday gig of 2023!

 I love drawing at events at South Bowl!

My new minimal setup, with a tripod-easel, is on the right, next to the bar.

Event was a company holiday party. :-)

This next one (below) requires a little bit of explanation. I was drawing them and bragging that I could also easily hold a conversation while doing so. I had finished her, and started him...but then I looked at her (because she asked a really good, unusual question...which I can't remember now what it was, but it required careful thought) and then I drew HER glasses on HIM!!! Well, that's unfixable. Restart!!! 

But I gave her the part of my 1st version that wasn't messed up. ;-)

And you can see, I am pretty consistent!!

1920's Murder-mystery-themed 60th birthday caricatures!

Happy SURPRISE birthday to Vinnie! His wife pulled it off, he had no idea what he was walking into!

This fabulously fun dinner was held in a WINE CELLAR!

I am starting to get used to my new tripod easel. so much easier to transport!

My caricatures were just one sort of entertainment, there was also Riddlesbrood Theater Company doing skits, as the guests interacted with them!

So here are a few of my caricatures of guests, many of whom were in costume!

Of course, I wore my antique 1920's hat for the occasion!

Circus-themed 7th birthday caricatures

Of course, I drew the birthday boy as a ringmaster!

My thoughtful client went an extra mile for her guests and provided FRAMES for the caricatures!

Here are a few of the kids. I drew 23 kids in BW, and the birthday boy in color, in 2 hours. :-)

Sweet 50th birthday caricatures...

 This birthday gal's DJ husband saw me at an event TEN YEARS AGO and kept my card, and they just booked me for her 50th this past weekend. :-)

Yes I added the final "n" in her name... after he showed me I forgot to fit it in! My brain gets way ahead of itself sometimes...

Yes, he know everyone thinks he looks like Tony Soprano. ;-P

We couldn't even remember the event where we met, but his wife told me he looked it up in his notes and it was a wedding in 2013.  Good note-keeping!!

It was a small group, so I did everyone in color. Here are a few (the ladies reacted with good-natured screams when they saw them!)

70th Birthday Caricatures in a picturesque marina restaurant

 Love driving to afternoon gigs in October...this was my view as I approached The Chesapeake Inn in Chesapeake City, MD, where my caricatures were to be a surprise to an unsuspecting 70th birthday gentleman!
