SFT 2016 Airbrush Caricature Sample...

My very first sample at my first State Fair of TX was Brangelina. And my final one turned out to be them, too! Not planned, just worked out that way!! ( My colleagues did the political candidates, so I went for the celebrity angle.)

My final State Fair of Texas....2016

My years of airbrush caricaturing at the State Fair of Texas came to an end, at the close of the Fair in 2016...but what a great experience, one which I will NEVER forget!! Over a span of nine years, I've lived in Texas for almost eight months...longer than any other state except PA. I guess that makes me an "honorary Texan". October won't be the same for me this year, being at home! But my shoulder will definitely thank me for not putting it through another 24-day airbrushing marathon.
So without further ado, I will share some of my favorite caricature reactions from SFT 2016.

These folks and their little baby-to-be were my first subjects on the first day.

Older brother, younger brother.

His nose was fun to draw.

HAD to include his prize for his lady!!!

Another big bushy beard!

I thought these two resembled famous faces from 150 years apart: Prince Edward Duke of Clarence, and Cara Deleveigne.

It's hard to have favorites when you caricature so many people, they all have somethng that makes them fun to draw...but these two REALLY made me happy.

And yet ANOTHER big guy with a beard and big chains!  I used my gold marker a lot for this one!

Finally, one that the couple art-directed themselves. I was mad (later, when I saw the photo) that I forgot to add the molding on the Gothic window between them. Oh well, they liked it.

Caricatures at a Mauve Wedding!

This bride was an original...her dress was mauve---so pretty and unusual!
I arrived early enough to see her go in for the ceremony on the arm of her father.
The venue was a former industrial building. So cool to see it renovated to a place of celebration!
Spot my easel!
Once the reception started, of course I was busy, The kids who were in attendance were drawn before I started on the BIG KIDS:

I ended up moving across the room to a more brightly-lit spot once night fell...

Finally, the lovely bride and groom!
What a fun reception, congratulations to Kelly and Chris!

Caricatures at the Hummelstown Arts Festival 2016

For the past couple of years, I've drawn in the Kids Area of this lovely little town's annual Arts Festival...

Aren't they cute???

A fine day on campus welcoming incoming freshmen, although I drew many upperclassmen volunteers! Lots of reaction shots at this event. :-)

Oktoberfest Caricatures!

On a crisp autumn afternoon, my caricaturing was serenaded by a different kind of band: a traditional German one! This community held their own Oktoberfest.
The band even played a Beatles song!!!!! Well, there IS a German version: .
I was right next to the beer garden tent. :-)
The caricatures ended up being of folks of all ages:

Backyard BBQ caricatures

Second year running at this family BBQ! Love-love-LOVE the faces I get to draw here!
Didn't take many pics---I just have these two,  as I was swamped with eager sitters.
Thanks to my client, for both the event--- and the feedback: Very pleased with Emily. I have used Emily for the last two years for my annual family bbq. My entire family looks forward to the caricatures. Emily is very engaging and professional.
...and thanks to Gigmasters!

College Welcome Caricatures!

Move-in days at universities are fraught with emotions... Once the parents are gone, and the boxes are hauled into dorms, the students are ready to PARTY! And often, my caricatures are part of the fun!
This particular event was at a residence for Temple University students in Philadelphia.
Temple is known for having lots of international students. :-)

Bad news: My Copic Sketch marker had a mini-explosion. Goodbye, Anne Taylor Loft t-shirt. :-(
Good news: One of the students immediately put her caricature on Instagram! Yay!

An NFC-East Wedding

What kind of caricature do you draw when a Philadelphia Eagles fan marries a Dallas Cowboys fan? How does this relationship even exist?
Well, I couldn't draw them killing each other, could I? So I did this digital caricature, using their respective football team's--oops, I mean wedding colors, which was used as their wedding sign-in!
I also drew at their reception:

Time-lapse caricature!!!
As of this writing, the Eagle-Cowboy marriage is still intact, and the pregnancy-reveal folks have a baby girl. THAT'S HOW FAR BEHIND I AM ON MY BLOG!!!!! But I'm working on it ;-)
