17th/final December gig...and last gig of 2024...caricatures at a VERY special wedding reception!

New Year's Eve 2024 was stupendous...I was booked (in 2023, long wait!) by the granddaughter of a dear friend to draw caricatures at her STAR WARS-themed wedding reception at THE FRANKLIN INSTITUTE!! And my hubby was also a guest, so we could also enjoy the reception and NYE together. We won't forget this night any time soon!!

We arrived as the bride and groom were getting photos on the front steps before the ceremony.
Got a few pics, then went in to set up. (The ceremony was held in the famous planetarium!)

Here I am, ready to go!
I had done an airbrush sign-in caricature in my studio, as a gift to the couple...it was a surprise, they did not see it til the reception...you can see it set up there next to me--ready to become a treasured memento of their wedding!

Their theme was "Til Death Star Do Us Part" so I made sure to get a glittery Death Star in the background and use the Star Wars font...
(This is at the end of the reception, all signed up!)

Look at the sweeeeeeet sign they had made for my station!!

Below, the wider view! I'm waving from the middle left. So nice to have my hubby there to take pics!

Once we set up, it was cocktail hour time! And it was memorable...from the lego place-cards and light sabers for all...
to the signature drink...

(their Rottie is named Rex)
...to WHERE the cocktail hour was held...near the famous Franklin Institute Human Heart! Both my hubby and I had taken field trips here as children and remember it well. (I'd been back to the F.I. for a gig some years ago, so I had fresher memories than him... and it still seemed so much smaller than I remembered)

So.... lots of enjoyment was had by us. Thank you so much, Courtney and Joe!

Then it was time to provide caricature enjoyment to others:
Gotta start with the couple who had a light saber with them ;-)

...and lastly, the parents of the bride (who were actually my first caricature drawn in 2025!)

Yes I put up a Reel!!

A few more miscellaneous pics:

The bride and groom were in great demand all night so I only have videos of them,

Thanks again C & J for having is and Happy New Year!!!!

NYE caricatures at 55+ community, last gig of 2023!

My final event of 2023 was a NYE party, for which my client graciously invited my husband to attend so we could celebrate midnight together. Thank you!!
Here are some happy seniors in this cozy lounge in their community.

This little family (below) travelled from Romania to visit her grandmom!

Here's to 2024!

NYE party caricatures!

My 2023 started off with a gig in a casino, so I only have photos of the caricatures themselves. But trust me, they are good likenesses! ;-) Actually my 2022 ended at this same gig, as I drew until one in the morning. My hubby was there to kiss me at midnight though!
Happy New Year!

First gig of 2015---Happy New Year!

On New Year's Day, my caricaturing skills were put to use at a fabulous Open House, about as close as one could get to the sequined, spangled, famous Mummers parade...
I arrived eaaaaaarlllllllly to set up (and avoid the already-inebriated logjam that was Center City)and thus was able to enjoy the opening scenes of the parade, right from the steps of the Union League.
My easel was in a beautifully decorated ballroom with a fireplace, where guests congregated to enjoy little glasses of "Fish House Punch."
The Union League was definitely impressive.
Here's a bad selfie...I was trying to get a photo of my New Year paper tiara. ;-)
Now for the caricatures!
Did quite a few father-son caricatures at this event:
And quite a few bow-ties too!
I wish I could keep from blurring my reaction photos! Grrrrr!
One of my final drawings was for a couple who sat down and told me they'd just gotten engaged that morning and could I make sure to show her new ring in the drawing. I said, ABSOLUTELY!!!!
I was very proud of the fact that it was rather easy to remember to write '2015' on each drawing!
Happy New Year, everyone!
