Texas 2015---Misc.

The State Fair of Texas is never dull. This year, instead of one big thing (in the past it's been crazy storms, Oprah coming, Ebola in Dallas or Big Tex burning down-yikes) it was a lot of cool, small things.
Our annual photo with Big Tex 2.0:
Ok, Celestia cropped his head off. She does have the longer arm for selfies, so I'm not really complaining.
Here is my pic of Big Tex in all his cowboy-hatted glory:
Mini-Big Tex says Howdy, too.
A couple of views of our fair "neighborhood":
There was an eclipse during the fair, but we were so busy we missed most of it!
I got my annual reject:
Mom didn't care for how the drawing was turning out---I wasn't even done drawing it when she told me to stop. I airbrushed it after she left with her disappointed kid.
This is how I retaliated against Senior Citizens who think caricature chairs INSIDE THE BOOTH are expressly for them to use on Senior Day at the Fair. They get annoyed and pretend not to understand when it's explained that they're for CUSTOMER USE...these ladies took their sweet time masticating their corny dogs (by the way, this photos got MANY likes on my Instagram, hee hee).
This photo was texted to us by a happy returning caricature customer. His barbershop wall is plastered with them!  We had fun seeing whose artwork we recognized.  (Mine are the color one and the giant-headed, shaded BW.)
We have a long walk back through a parking lot, to the RV where we stay during the fair,  and this windshield decor really cracked me up.

THIS is our single line which feeds all four artists, late one night towards the end of the fair....yes people are crazy determined to get their caricatures!
And after getting through all that, we still smile!!!!
Well, some of us do!!

Texan single-person airbrush caricatures 2015

It's always nice to have a whole sheet of paper to devote to just one person...or DOG!
Ok, back to real people! ;-)
This gentleman comes to me every year for a caricature, and asks for a different musical instrument. :-)
These two ladies originally hailed from Northeast, Maryland, not terribly far from me.  I asked them if they missed Wawa! (Of course, they did)
This is another every-year customer, she always wants to be depicted in a red dress. This year we added her dog.
HAIR!!!!!

Texan Families 2015, etc.

Here are some family caricatures by yours truly...
This picture is of a group of babies who ALL got caricatures at the same time at our booth...I did the GIANT headed one, our cohort Doug did the sweet baby girl, and Celestia did the two B/W full-bodied little tots (in the same time it took us to do ONE color caricature, of course ;-)
Some adorable sisters who took off as I finished them so couldn't get a photo...
Now for the etc.'s...

These two BFFs had a stuffed doughnut and unicorn, yeah I had to draw those!!!
Doughnuts are EASY PEASY.
More assorted caricatures!!
Have I mentioned how much I enjoy doing these? It's the only time all year that I use an airbrush...so technically, it means I have been a full-time airbrush artist for eight months. ;-)

O's Opener 2016

It rained. There was a rain delay. A rather loooooong rain delay. But I got a few drawings in:
By the time the game resumed, it was dark and most of the crowd had gone home. Can't always be beautiful weather on Opening Day!

Texan KIDS 2015

And now for some children...
Look at this shy little cutie!
You can see the one new sample I made in 2015...Taylor Swift.

Texan Couples 2015 #1

I've neglected my blog for the longest period since its beginnings in 2007...because I had a lot of other things happening in my life (which I'll get to in due time)...but now it's time to CATCH UP! We'll see if I can do it!
My last post back in November of 2015 was about the State fair of Texas...here are some of the COUPLES I caricatured there. :-)
Best stubble ever!!
I liked the line drawing so much for this one, that I got a picture before airbrushing it. A measure of success for me is if the drawing can stand on its own without color.
Facial hair!!!!!
Often people ask to have their dogs added into a caricature, but this couple wanted their CAT!
Brothers........and a father-daughter.
Various boyfriend-girlfriend couples...
and some BFF's who LOVED their caricature!

Caricatures at a Valentine Social!

I enjoy drawing at assisted-living places (this one was no exception) and the residents and their families enjoy getting a caricature!
