Caricatures at Jordan's Extravaganza!!

Gigsalad brought me together with a client who was giving a big celebration for her daughter that was more like a Sweet 16 or a Quinceanera, only it wasn't called that...it was Jordan's Extravaganza!
My caricatures weren't the only entertainment for the lucky guests, there was also a stilt walker:
and a Michael Jackson impersonator:
The guest of honor got a singing telegram telling her how much she is loved:
...while I was drawing her Disney-Princess-vibe caricature!
She and her dad had made their entrance right in front of my spot:
Then I got busy with the guests:
It was hard to get good photos because of the amazing lighting effects all around the room. What an amazing night! Thank you for having me!!!

Caricatures at a TUESDAY wedding!

This imposing mansion was the setting for a BEAUTIFUL wedding ceremony and reception. Like me, the groom is a small business owner who performs on weekends...hence the Tuesday wedding date. :-)
I love how old houses feel...my set up was at the bottom of the elegant staircase that the bride was about to come down...
Here comes the bride!!! The groom is waiting for his first look...
Yes, this brought tears to my eyes. :-)
Then they went into the main room, to much fanfare,
and I got busy with drawing caricatures!

My finale was the bride and groom..
Caricature Reaction!
They were both such sweethearts! Thank you for having me!

Caricatures for convention-goers at the iconic Reading Terminal Market

The Reading Terminal Market is a Philadelphia institution, and it's right next to our Convention Center, so it's an obvious win for the out-of-towners and even out-of-country attendees to the various conventions held there. This one had many Europeans so I enjoyed telling them about my Dutch beret that I got in Groningen. :-)
...now for some caricatures!

These were all done in Copic markers only, no artstix. I am broadening my arsenal of art supplies lately.
Two other caricaturists, Matt and Courtney, worked this gig with me...it was so big they had us spread out in the Market and I couldn't even see them...but we got a solidarity photo at the end of the night. :-)

Wind-swept caricatures at a company picnic!

It was a beautiful but BLUSTERY day at a local state park, for this company's annual picnic. You can see their little faces are wind-burned red! I didn't take many pics because my hands were too cold to deal with my camera too, even with the fingerless gloves I use to draw outside if it's below 60 degrees. Yup--I hate cold. But the trees sure were gorgeous!

Silhouettes at a fundraiser-dinner!

My scissors were so busy at this Black-and-White themed fundraiser event for Cecil County Arts Council. Such variety of headshapes, hairstyles and hatwear!
Everyone enjoyed seeing my process, and couldn't believe that I did not need to draw anything first, which is the magic of traditional silhouette cutting!
I was seated right at a table along with guests. Thank you for having me!

Warehouse Company Picnic Caricatures!

It was a small number of folks, so I was able to do FULL COLOR caricatures of the employees!

Thanks for the wonderful review on Gigsalad!!
They asked me to stay on to feast on their very Maryland dinner treat, but I had to head to another gig. :-(
CRABS. No crabs for me...

Halloween Caricatures!!! Woooooooo

I was so happy to be booked (via Gigmasters) for this "BOOs and BOOZE" Halloween party this year! I LOVE dressing in my vintage witch costume...although I did get a new (smaller) witch hat to go with it.
Hostess set me up in the living room with creepy cool signage!

Here's a few caricatures. Have to admit, my favorite costume was the Double Dare couple.

My Halloween-loving client (she's the one with the murderous teddy bear in the first photo) left me some great feedback on Gigmasters:

Emily was fantastic!! She was super accommodating and had brought everything she needed with her including her own light, something that other artists we’ve had in the past hadn’t done. All of our guests were super impressed and we heard over and over that it was the best caricature they had ever had done! We highly recommend her!

Call Center Caricatures on an Employee Appreciation Day!

This was a fun gig for me: ALL COLOR CARICATURES!
These two wanted to be drawn as Thelma and Louise!!!!
This lady trained new hires, so I got silly on her word balloon..
Everyone there worked in a vast, open-plan office. When they found out caricatures were to be part of their festivities, this lady pulled me to her cubicle and showed me this:
I'd drawn her and her daughter in 2009!!!
