2025 Sweetheart Dance (father-daughter) caricatures

I've done this event many times over the years, and it's always delightful to see dads and daughters enjoying the dance floor...along with NINE caricaturists providing artistic souvenirs!

The custom here is that each artist is expected to draw 30 or more faces in two hours, (so as to get everyone done) using a sign-up sheet on a tray table behind each of us. Here's my spot (I'm Artist B!) :

Here's some of my output:
( I managed 34 faces total, using my line-drawing-only mode)

Sadly, I didn't get a group shot of all of us artists...it's always chaotic at the end of this event!

Thanks for having me, Mr DavidCPerry!

Sweetheart Dance Caricatures

Valentine's Day 2024 approached, along with my annual date with eight other caricaturists: at a Sweetheart (Father-Daughter) Dance. Mr David C. Perry runs this one and we all draw on his pre-printed papers:

This event always has hundreds of guests, and somehow we always get them all done in two hours!

Afterwards, a few of us went to a diner and ate a well-earned, hearty meal!

Father-Daughter Valentine Caricatures!

This year, NINE caricature artists drew several hundred father-daughter couples at this adorable annual event. Girl dads rock!!💗

😲

Here are a few of mine:

I wore my nearly pristine Valentine-hearts sweater, that I was gifted in the late 90's. Bought from Quacker-Barrel on QVC ...and I ONLY wear it to Valentine events. So... it still looks brand new!!
This event is one of the very rare ones that have a sign-up sheet system in play.
It *mostly* works out. At least, mine did this year...all the artists were supposed to
draw thirty-two faces in two hours.  (Mission accomplished. :-)  I actually had people trying to add lines so they could sign up, after my sheet was filled in!! I had to regretfully decline them, but at least there were eight other possibilities they could try!

Here is a panoramic view of the proceedings:
...and a view of the packed dance floor!

Finally, here's the whole gang! I don't even want to imagine the combined years worth of experience here. Thank you David C. Perry!
To my right on the photo, in the dark purple hat...is the first live caricaturist I ever laid eyes on, or met, twenty-seven years ago now. Unknown to her at the time, she was a huge catalyst in my having this career that I do...so every time we gig together, it is really special to both of us. Thank you, dear Sally!!!

Father-Daughter Valentine Caricatures

On Friday night, my skills were added to those of SEVEN other caricature artists, drawing for a sweet Father-Daughter Valentine event at a local hotel. We were actually back for the first time in two years, of course, due to the still-lingering pandemic. Every guest there (probably close to 200 people) got a caricature, snuggled in a heart-shaped design. I know I personally drew 29 of them, because a sign-up sheet was used for each artist (something I normally don't encourage, but it went well).

Here's a sampling of my drawings:

I did many twosomes, but also plenty of larger daddy-daughter groupings:

LOL these are about half my output for the evening---not bad for two hours.
I used all markers for these, both linework and shading were done with Copic Sketchmarkers.

Here's a shot of all the other artists (my apologies to Deb who was at the far, far end from me, so not a good pic of her)
Thanks to David for the gig!

'Daddy/Daughter Dance' Caricatures!

This was my first time doing this type of gig...in fact, I expected it to be teenagers walking in with with their dads; but it was little girls all dressed up with their proud daddies and grandpops! This event is so popular there is even a waiting list!
This event utilized the skills of EIGHT caricature artists, so we were able to do 100+ drawings in total! I was Caricaturist B, appropriately!
We were asked by the client to use a sign-up sheet, which usually I don't encourage, as they seem to make things way more complicated than efficient---there was music, of course, so I couldn't call out names at all.  Luckily, most of the dads on the list showed up when they were supposed to!

Here's a few more of mine.

After the event, five of the artists were able to go out and get some pizza, and catch up: from left, Miriam Pryor, Mike Garibay, Anthe, Sally C, and moi :-)
