College cafeteria caricatures!

I shouldn't even call the dining center of this institution of higher learning "a cafeteria"..it is a more like a chic culinary cafe....and they were celebrating a lovely spring day, and 'no-food-waste day' with a DJ and my caricatures during one lunchtime this week:

All done with Copic-sketch markers, even the shading. Really liking this method. Gotta get more ink though!
Here was my setup, this was actually my second gig here, I did a fall event in the same spot in 2021.
Here's a few scenery pics:

Got a couple of video reactions! These really make my day~

Thanks for having me, Washington College in beautiful Chestertown! :-)

Company 75th anniversary party caricatures!

What a fun group of people, celebrating a company anniversary with a blues band, a bbq, some good booze...and caricatures (which unfortunately doesn't start with a 'B')!

Here's a little bit of the vibe:

I drew all ages at this one!

This couple were a hoot! Here's their reaction:

Thanks to a great client and The Bash for putting us together. She left me some wonderful feedback!
I have the BEST job!

Community Family Day Caricatures

Another annual gig I do, that had a two-year gap between visits because of the pandemic, is this lovely Family Day event held at a municipal complex.  This is one of my favorite gigs---because it's my hometown, where I grew up and have many fond memories. Was glad to be back!

These two were stoic......UNTIL THEY SAW THEIR CARICATURE :-D
Memorably, the lady MAYOR and I discovered that I knew her sister in high school.  We were both on the school newspaper----where I was the CARTOONIST! :-)

Thanks to Bettes Bounces as always for providing my skills to this event! They are a local treasure to this community. :-)

Penn State Brandywine...caricatures!

Penn State's campus in Delaware County, PA had a student-morale-booster day recently, and my caricatures were a part of it.  In a sunlit seating area, two other caricaturists and I drew students who were so happy to get one; look how happy THIS guy is!!!
It was a special day for me too, as I was reunited with a friend and mentor, Sally, who was actually the very first caricature artist I ever saw in action, at an art festival back in the late 90's. I told her that day I was going to learn how to do caricatures....
and I DID!!
The memo for lady caricaturists of a certain age: both of us are glasses-wearing, palette-pinned (mine is on my coat) and hatted. :-)
Below, a student who was drawn by both of us.
Without her inspiration way back then, maybe I wouldn't be blogging this right now (she told me I should get back to blogging!) So. THANK YOU, SALLY (again!!)

An exuberant 70th Birthday party...with my caricatures!

This lady came in DANCING, to her surprise 70th birthday party, which was masterminded by her party-planner granddaughter. I actually drew her caricature (her body, anyway) from one of the photos I took when she came in!  (Had a good seat!)
SURPRISE!!!!!!!
And I was right there across from the door:
I couldn't BELIEVE she was 70.
So here is a close up of the caricature...and below is her reaction when her granddaughter showed her, on the dance floor, of course!
Here are some of the guests' caricatures:

It went so well I was asked to stay an extra half hour, thank you, Brielle!

This was the 2nd gig of 2020, but the first to use my brand-new rubber stamp on my papers.

Caricatures at a 70th birthday party for a lovely lady

She was surprised!!!! Her family picked a quaint old restaurant to get everyone together. She though she was going to someone else's party.
She didn't notice me at first, I was in a far corner:
and I got very busy after her entrance!

Thanks for having me!!

Corporate holiday party in a historic former church....

Here's another type of place where I've never drawn caricatures...a church stage, in front of a massive pipe organ!
Here's the further-away view:
My caricaturist colleagues onstage were Rick and Mike:
It was a lady-filled event:

Thanks for having me!

Another warm-hearted staff holiday party with caricatures!

Back for a 2nd stint at their holiday festivity, my caricatures put smiles on the faces of the staff (and their families) of a local medical practice...

I was situated  in the dining room, along with a fantastic photo-booth that looked like a mirror...and the host had a schedule posted to keep things organized  (with almost 100 people in his home, you'd be organized too!)

Thanks for having me, Dr. H!!!!
