Beautiful micro-wedding at the beach, with my caricatures as wedding favors!

This couple couldn't have had a more perfect day for their wedding ceremony and reception...comfortable temps, low humidity and a gorgeous view of the beach made it a total pleasure! (And the venue did its part, too! ;-)

The Peter Shields Inn and Restaurant has recommended my services to quite a few brides and grooms now, for which I am very thankful...

because I love visiting Cape May, and making people happy with my drawings!

This time, instead of being inside, in the elegant parlor, I was outside on the breezy front porch!
My subjects were seated in the comfy wicker loveseat.

And I was honored to witness their ceremony (above).

Cocktail hour commenced with drinks and caricatures!

During the toasts and meal, I worked on the bridal caricature from a photo:
They were surprised!

Thank you both for having me!
And also for the unexpected hilarity of the greeting-the-guests wedding mirror:
Tee-hee!! 😆 but probably true for 99% of all brides!

Wedding caricatures just off the beach in Avalon, NJ

THIS was right behind the venue!

The real action was inside, though, for this lovely wedding reception that came to me via The Bash.

The cocktail hour was held on the patio of the Icona Avalon, and my setup was right in the path of a pleasant beach breeze. Ahhhhhh...

Prior to the big day, I had drawn a caricature of the bride and her late best friend from a photo... she would have been a bridesmaid...so, she was there in spirit and in caricature. The thoughtfulness and love from the bride for her friend really touched me.

This artist, once she put her fascinator on...was ready to DRAW! And this event held a first for me...I drew on toned paper, specifically BLUE, as that was the wedding color. I knew it was going to be just line drawings because there were over 200 guests, but the paper allowed me to add highlights (well, after the first one where I hadn't thought of it yet)) and I think it worked out pretty well!

After the cocktail hour I moved into the ballroom...

Here's a collage of some more  of them!

All told, I did 73 guest faces in B/W, in a span of about 4 hours!

and for my finale of the evening,
here are the bride and groom!

Thanks for having me! I love my clients!

UPDATE 8-30-22: The bride left me some spectacular feedback on The Bash! THANK YOU JESSICA!!!

Wild Wildwood wedding caricatures!

I've been delving a little more into doing beach-town weddings, if they are in the Cape May/Wildwood NJ area, since I have a generous friend with a beach cottage, where I can stay overnight. ( I am getting to the age where driving a long distance home--after a intense evening of caricaturing---is...not fun). This lively wedding reception was practically under one of the famous Wildwood signs (there are several!) and most of the guests were from Delco, PA (as am I, originally) and that is a THING NOW!! (Maybe even more so if you are Delco Irish! ;-)

Cocktail hour started off on one end of the deck right on the marina:
This reception was very large, so my line-drawing-only style caricatures made
quick work of everyone's face...
Once the reception proper began, I moved in closer to the dance floor and continued on my merry way!
I took a photo of the bride and groom, and worked on their caricature during the toasts and first dances. Her hairdo was fun to draw!!

As the night wore on, everyone enjoyed the seafood, the libations, the dancing, the wonderful salty air, and my caricatures! Thanks for having me, Jackie and Kit!

Cape May Wedding Caricatures

It was my pleasure to return to the Peter Shields Inn in Cape May for the second time in my career, to draw caricatures at an intimate family wedding reception. Such a great couple, and venue!

There's the bride on her way across the street, to her beach wedding!
Below is my view from the porch.
Then I went inside and finished setting up in the front parlor:
The guests were quite happy to get caricatures!

Then, the bride and groom...
So sweet!
I really love being a part of my clients' big day. Thank you for having me!!

Cape May NJ beach wedding caricatures!

Cape May is a gorgeous little Victorian town on the very tip of southern New Jersey. The main street is full of quaint little historic hotels, quite a few of which are perfect venues for beach weddings! This adorable couple included my caricatures in their celebrations, at the Peter Shields Inn.

I loved the lavender color scheme!

Thanks for having me, Tara and Matt! :-)
