Silhouettes at a Grand Opening 3-day event!

After doing Boot Barn's Newark, Delaware Grand Opening, I was invited back for another similar weekend event, in Cherry Hill, NJ recently. The customers were surprised and delighted to get their very own silhouette cut out right in front of them in the blink of an eye!

This gig saw the first use of my new pull-up banner for silhouette events! Thanks, Goshen Signs!

I worked alongside some other charming vendors---live musicians and unique food trucks--BB's event planner definitely knows what she's doing to make it a very special day for the new customers. (Thank you for having me again!)
I mean, THIS is just one of the other treats besides my art! ;-)

Silhouettes at "Beary Loved"--a Valentine's Day event in Boyertown, PA

A balmy Saurday afternoon is rare for February--unusual, but very much enjoyed---especially because it made a wonderful event even better. "Beary Loved" was a town-wide Valentine-themed festivity that folks could enjoy in all sorts of ways, including getting a silhouette from me!

I was situated in Studio B Art gallery, along with caricaturist Courtney, (whom I had just worked with on the previous evening!) and a harpist, Cindy DePietrio, who enhanced the romantic atmosphere by playing just outside the front door and luring folks in. :-)
Courtney had never seen live silhouette cutting before so of course I had to do one for her!

Here is a map showing just how many fun things were made available by Build-A-Better-Boyertown, who certainly know how to show off their unique and historic small town. I was even able to shop before I started cutting silhouettes, and was able to get my husband's Valentine gift next door.
Now for some silhouettes...
Most were of couples, of course! So I cut them as a joined heart-shape.

Thanks for having me, Boyertown! :-)
And happy Valentine's Day!

Silhouette offcuts October 2021

These are leftovers from my RACC event earlier this month...kind of used as progress reports to myself, when I look over the offcuts after a silhouette gig. As I cut them at an event, I throw these into a bag beside me, both to keep trash to a minimum and to have for later! I've been doing silhouettes sporadically now for five years; every year I get more silhouette gigs than the year before. My career goal is 1/3 silhouette work and 2/3 caricature work...not quite there yet. :-0

Silhouettes at a lovely boho-Victorian wedding reception

My silhouette scissors were wielded on a sultry late-summer night, for a fantastic and unique wedding reception, held in a historic Victorian home/wedding venue.  The bride and her wedding planner were wonderful to work with...we even had a Zoom meeting that week to firm up all the details. I was seated in a little "winter porch" off the living room (the reception encompassed the entire first floor, porch and side yard). They even thought to provide a wicker stand for a silhouette display area, for the guests to put their little treasures until it was time to take their leave.  I'll let my photos tell the story:

Thank you SO much, Brittany and Drew! And to The Bash for putting us together to make wonderful memories. :-)

Bridgerton-themed Silhouettes on the waterfront!

On a gorgeous spring day in Maryland, I teamed up with the only other silhouette artist I know, to cut Bridgerton-themed silhouettes for guests of a special event, sponsored by Havre de Grace Living. This little girl was one of the volunteers, and my first silhouette of the afternoon!
Havre de Grace is at the confluence of the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay.
My colleague Ted Stuessy, of Shadow Cuts, sat with me, near the historic lighthouse. :-)
Here we are, set up and ready to snip! I wore my Edwardian dress and hat.

Here's Ted in action! We soon were both busy though, and I wasn't able to get a photo of one of his finished silhouettes.
Folks came in all sorts of period costumes!
Here's some of my work. The silhouettes all had HdGLiving's logo printed on the lower left.

When I got home, I photographed some of my offcuts. You can see how much fun I had cutting the intricate and interesting headwear!
Thanks to Gigsalad for putting us in touch with HdGLiving!
Here is the review I received, thank you so much!

Emily was one of two silhouette artists at a themed charity event and she was phenomenal. Not only did the guests rave about her, but she was so easy to work with. Flexible and a great communicator, will definitely hire again. Thank you!

Silhouettes at a Wilmington, Delaware wedding...

The University and Whist Club in Wilmington was the setting for  this couple's lovely wedding reception, which included my silhouettes!

I started out during the cocktail hour in the older part of the mansion:
...then moved, along with the guests, to a large elegant dining room...there were large screens for the guests to see everything up close!
My spot was right by the entrance so my sitters didn't miss a thing:
Since there was a very large number of guests, and it was non-stop busy, I hardly got any photos---but here are two:
His hair was amazing, how could I not get a photo of that!
It was fun for me to see the results of my flying scissors propped up on various tables.
Thank you so much for having my silhouette artistry at your reception! ;-)
The venue liked my art so much, they invited me to be a part of their wedding fair in 2020.

Silhouettes by Emily at the 2020 Irish Festival

Yes, this is an Irish lass----whom I actually cut from memory, as I've seen this classic movie (and others of hers) enough times to know her profile by heart. She ended up being my sample silhouette this year. Do you know who she is?
Lots of green to be seen here! I love decorating my silhouette-cutting spot!

It It wasn't ALL scissor-cutting all the  time...I did eat and watch some Irish dancing!

Slan for now!
