Backyard Sweet 16 Caricatures

So many folks are utilizing their backyards for parties this year (and rightly so), I am so happy to feel safer doing events outdoors while the weather stays nice. I'm sure the tent companies are happy too.

This family didn't need a tent, their backyard was a little paradise for celebrating a Sweet 16. The birthday girl posed with her cat, whom she called her"son". Of course, he's in her caricature!

Caricatures at a Grand Opening!

 This was my second time drawing at a Grand Opening for a new Beyond Hello Medical Marijuana Dispensary. The first time was pre-pandemic, and I mean it was one of my last few gigs in 2019, before we had any inkling of the big changes in our lives to come...

...but anyway, this was a fantastic, fun afternoon! I was right on the sidewalk out front...along with free ice cream sandwiches! This was a branded paper event, and I decided to go all marker for the shading.

Wedding Brunch Caricatures...

 ...are kind of a new thing, to me anyway, as I've done two of these recently. The morning after the wedding, the family enjoys a tented brunch in the backyard, and a much less hectic atmosphere. Even got to draw a dog in a backpack at this one! Thanks for having me, and sending me home with shrimp-n'grits!

A very distinguished 70th birthday party, with caricatures!

 This beautiful woman was given a very elegant surprise birthday party by her family...but they opted for my caricatures as the entertainment ;-)

I know! I can barely believe she is 70, either!

The festivities were held in a nice hotel venue...

So many wonderful faces!!!!

I was hoping there would be some food left over when I finished drawing nearly everyone, and there was. Thanks to my client, and to Gigsalad for putting us together!

Silhouettes at a lovely boho-Victorian wedding reception

My silhouette scissors were wielded on a sultry late-summer night, for a fantastic and unique wedding reception, held in a historic Victorian home/wedding venue.  The bride and her wedding planner were wonderful to work with...we even had a Zoom meeting that week to firm up all the details. I was seated in a little "winter porch" off the living room (the reception encompassed the entire first floor, porch and side yard). They even thought to provide a wicker stand for a silhouette display area, for the guests to put their little treasures until it was time to take their leave.  I'll let my photos tell the story:
