2nd gig of 2025: caricatures at an Eagles fan's 60th birthday celebration!

Travelled downstate a bit to draw at this gentleman's 60th birthday 'do...capably organized by his lovely daughter, who is one of my favorite wedding coordinators around! Here is his airbrushed sign-in caricature:

And here he is with me, before things kicked off. :-)
The guests were queued up right away, here are a few of them:

My client and her husband...hope to see them both at wedding receptions this year!

Here's one more,  a lady with the cutest freckles ever!
I love my job! 😍
If you want to check out the vibe, here's my REEL 1 and REEL 2 from IG.

Silhouettes at an elegant backyard (actually front yard) birthday affair!

On Labor Day, my silhouettes were part of a beautiful and affectionate milestone birthday party, thrown by a loving wife for her husband's 60th birthday, in their front yard. She and Tara at EngagedManagement really pulled off an AMAZING event, which also included caricatures from my longtime friend and colleague Julie

We covered pretty much all the kids and many of the adults, so everyone went home with an artistic party favor! Below you can see ALL the silhouettes I did. In the interests of speed, I only took photos of each finished silhouette and did not ask folks to pose with them...50 in all (plus one of Jules!)

The hostess and the birthday guy were more concerned with the happiness of their guests, so we did not get to silhouette-cut or caricature-draw them. They were so thoughtful!

Thank you so much for having us on such a lovely September day!!

60th Birthday Caricature COASTERS!

This was my first caricatures on coasters gig, AND it was also a stealth gig

The occasion was a belated 60th birthday for a very musical birthday gal (she plays in a mariachi band and a swing band!) and her big day had actually been during the pandemic, so she is a very young 60. 😂😂😂

I knew folks were going to be singing and jamming on musical instruments, so it was very easy to blend in and draw them while they played. Birthday gal belted out this song!

Click here to hear a little bit of music from this party on my IG

So, drawing caricatures on little cork/paper coasters has been a "thing" for awhile now. I bought a bunch  a year ago, but hadn't had the opportunity to use them until this party. They are small enough not to be a burden to carry around (both for artist and recipient), and can be done without an elaborate easel setup.
I used just a few Prismacolor pencils and enjoyed doing them! Now I need to market them!
This young lady had a beautiful singing voice! She was so surprised when, after she sang, I handed her that coaster!
Here's the saxophonist. Pleased as punch that I drew him!
Bass player!
And some random audience-guests:

Happy birthday Judy!

First gig of 2024: a 60th birthday party with royal blue caricatures!

Well, the THEME was royal blue and silver! This venue was beautifully decorated!

But the birthday girl was even more beautiful...here she is with her caricature:

(She had booked me after seeing me draw at a party she attended last spring. )

The weather forecast that evening was for a BIG storm, with snow in many places...but luckily, I was heading for an area which saw only rain. So, everybody was able to show up! I drew non-stop and was even asked to stay longer. :-) Here are a few!

And here's an assortment on my table, where folks came by later to retrieve as they left.
Happy birthday Nina, and thank you!

1920's Murder-mystery-themed 60th birthday caricatures!

Happy SURPRISE birthday to Vinnie! His wife pulled it off, he had no idea what he was walking into!
This fabulously fun dinner was held in a WINE CELLAR!
I am starting to get used to my new tripod easel. so much easier to transport!
Here's the wider view:
My caricatures were just one sort of entertainment, there was also Riddlesbrood Theater Company doing skits, as the guests interacted with them!

So here are a few of my caricatures of guests, many of whom were in costume!

Of course, I wore my antique 1920's hat for the occasion!
Happy b-day Vinny, and big thanks to his wife, who booked my services via TheBash and kept me on for an extra hour as well!

FABULOUS Ugly-Christmas-Sweater + birthday party, soooo fun for caricatures!

Even the bathrooms were decorated for this one! And why a bathroom photo? Because here, you can see MY Ugly Christmas Sweater in all its glory!
This party was so thoughtfully planned:

Here's the Birthday Boy and his wife!
and some of the guests:

Thank you for having me! I hope the Birthday Boy having a Christmas-time birthday party made him feel doubly-special!

His wife, my client, left this feedback for me on Gigsalad:

Emily was incredible !! She made my husband's 60th a great night! All my guests loved her,

and loved her interpretation of them as a caricature !!
I would recommend her for any event!

And she already has! Thank you Kelly!!!!

This was the view of the venue when I left, wow---gorgeous!
