Caricaturing crabs, clams and vacationers in OCNJ

Down the shore, for me, means caricaturing!
Once again, I subbed for a caricaturist friend in her little stand on the boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey.
Here's my daily parking spot (that's my folding bike!)
My drawing day started at 1:00 pm and went until 11:00 pm all week...here is what adding some lights did for the stand during the evening hours!
Everyone is in a good mood on the boardwalk...see? Even if a seagull is pooping on your head!
Dad and son, daughter and boyfriend.
"Can you draw me on a roller coaster?"
I wish I had inked the motion lines behind him instead of using yellow artstix....they don't show up too well.
Mom and son, who had been drawn as the Hulk the previous day:
Batman on the beach, on the left...
"Draw her with a sandcastle, please!"
He had awesome hair and he knew it. ;-)
This couple was REALLY FUN to draw!!!!! And even more fun to show them the results!
As was this couple:
One night, a dramatic-looking storm front breezed through, dumping rain on the bay side of the island but not the beach side, thankfully:
...which resulted in this amazing sight!
I was so happy to get a photo of a rainbow on the ocean. :-)
This is the the little girl who was in my chair at the time. She'll never forget that rainbow either!
How 'bout a caricature of the whole family?
Girl with seagull, boy with dolphin...
Below: two kids with BIG brown eyes...
and one with big BLUE eyes.
Below: The couple on the left were newlyweds.
The lady in the middle was sitting for me because her husband wanted a caricature of her.
The sisters on the right were getting their first caricature ever!
This is the one sample I did, which is kinda wacky...if you know the show, Breaking Bad, it's about a meth-peddling teacher. I dared to hang this up in a family-friendly, dry, beach resort. Well, it did get a lot of laughs and double-takes! And passers-by took photos of it! ;-)
So ends another breezy, beachy stint for me.
I love how the ocean and sky look so serene in this photo on my last night there.
One good thing about leaving the boardwalk: I won't have to be be tempted by this treat anymore!
